New Years Eve 2006

Another year has gone by. Looking back on 2006, it’s been a really busy year. The best part of the year for me was our trip to Europe. It was great to finally make a trip with just the 2 of us and share that experience together.

For New Years Eve we invited a few friends over as well as our next door neighbor. We ate, drank and played games and rang in the New Year. Looking forward to 2007! Only 2 more days to our trip to Singapore.

Snow Days

It’s been a very strange year as far as the weather is concerned. We’ve lived in Washington for 4 years now and we’ve never had our power go out twice in one year.

2 days after we got back from our Thanksgiving in Phoenix, Western Washington was hit by a snow storm on Tuesday night. Driving home that night was certainly interesting. The road was really icy and as I headed north in Redmond visibility was low. We woke up on Wednesday morning with about 7 inches of snow. My office was closed but Paul ventured into work anyway.

Paul, the handy man

Now I knew that Paul’s grandfather was an accomplished carpenter but I had no idea Paul is pretty handy himself until a couple of years ago. Our first house project was to fix our downstair guest bathroom. It was suppose to be a simple paint job that turned into a major work -- retiling, new sink, and paint. Paul did it all. :)

Well, this time Paul just finished building a shelf to put above our TV. We’ve been trying to find a shelving unit that will work with our needs but with no luck. We like light wood but what’s up with all the dark furniture these days?? So Paul decided he was going to build one from scratch and he finally got it done today! He surprises me all the time with his hidden talents. Of course, being the perfectionist that he is, he kept saying that it could be better and he’ll know how the next time. But to me, it’s the perfect shelf. :)
